| Thames Water Works in Lower Marsh |
![]() Thames Water will commence work in Lower Marsh in January 2008 to replace the existing Victorian Water mains as part of a borough-wide Victorian Mains Replacement programme. This work has been rescheduled from September 2007, further to lobbying undertaken by Waterloo Quarter on behalf of retailers who had expressed concerns about the work impacting on the busy pre-Christmas period.
A meeting was convened by Lambeth Markets Office on 24th July at which all retailers and market traders were given the opportunity to ask questions of Thames Water's contractors, Morrison, about the impact of the works on their business.
Thames Water is still finalising the exact programme of works for the street, but they have indicated that the work will proceed in 100m stretches, starting from the Baylis Road end of Lower Marsh on 7th January. During connections to the individual properties, businesses will be off water for around 10 minutes while the supply is switched to the new main. Morrison have confirmed that it will supply appropriate signage to indicate that Lower Marsh is open for business as usual.
