Waterloo Quarter BID Renewal Vote - February 2011

In February 2011 businesses voted for a five year continuation of Waterloo's Business Improvement District (BID).

Waterloo Quarter BID began life in Lambeth in 2006 before being extended into Southwark in 2008.

The BID was formed following requests from local businesses, and is run as a not-for-profit organisation by an unpaid Board and sub-groups made up of local business people. A core team of five full-time staff delivers BID projects which have been agreed by the Board.

Since 2006, Waterloo Quarter BID has:

Introduced a cost-saving twice weekly recycling scheme which is used by almost 200 local companies. We also set businesses up with £1 a bag general waste collections.

Organised free and subsidised glass collections, which save businesses money.

Run a series of successful events including our annual Food Festival to promote the area.

Financed regular street improvements, including extra cleaning, signs and the installation of planting tubs and hanging baskets.

Attracted central Government and European investment to Waterloo to help us facilitate events and advice for workers.

Represented local companies on issues including parking, business rates, licensing rules and planning applications.

The BID's activities are not limited to the above. Please click on the link below for a copy of the BID’s renewal proposal, which explains how Waterloo Quarter BID works to celebrate, promote, represent, connect and enhance business life in Waterloo.
